Artifactiry 3.1 - Windows Service failed to start

prashu.negu
We have installed Artifactory 3.1 on Windows 2008 server 64 bit. It is working fine as stand alone but failing in as win service. It gives below error.

If this is non-Miscrosoft service, contact service vendor or refer to service-specific error code 4.

When we check System log, it says System can not open a file. But, which file? Is it any space problem if any of the folders?

This is artifactiry home folder E:\Notification\artifactory-3.1.0.

Can someone advice,please?

Thanks,
Prashant

Hi Prashant,

I don't know which file is the problem, but I can tell you how I would find out: use Process Monitor (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx).  It allows you to monitor all file accesses across the system, so you can look for "file not found" messages and that might give you a clue.

I would
* start Process Monitor
* turn off capturing, then clear the log (otherwise it will record lots of file accesses before you start Artifactory).
* get ready to start Artifactory (get the Services app up, or a Command Prompt with "net start Artifactory" ready).
* turn on capturing
* start Artifactory
* as soon as you know the error has happened, turn off capturing again.

Good luck!
