artifactory

Jeroen De Vries

Dear,

I’ve got some problems with artifactory. My Hudson builds are failing because there is a transfer error with artifactory. I see the errors in artifactory even when it just starts up, and does nothing.

Error log in attachment.

The version I use is 2.0.6 + 1985 fixed. I don’t see any other bugs fixed in 2.0.7 which could have an impact on this problem, so I haven’t tried upgrading yet. (it’s a production system, so upgrading is not that easy..)

Any idea what could cause this? Need any more information?

Regards,

Jeroen

Jeroen,

Actually this looks very much related to a set of fixes we did around http://issues.jfrog.org/jira/browse/RTFACT-1960, and should be resolved in 2.0.7.
Please allow the Artifactory garbage collector to run at least twice before checking on the error again (by default it runs every hour).

Re: artifactory

Jeroen De Vries

Hey Yoav,

Thanks! It’s indeed fixed now. I forgot that our MySQL suddenly lost his config file for some reason last weekend :s.

I only still get a lot of these: (about 50 garbage collection cycles have passed (I set it on 5 minutes for testing purposes).

Regards,

Jeroen

Please allow the Artifactory garbage collector to run at least twice before checking on the error again (by default it runs every hour).

Re: artifactory

Jeroen De Vries

Hey Yoav,

That did not work. And I have been so stupid to just delete the index folder instead of renaming it and then deleting it (yes, they will kill me for that).

So, at the moment, I get a lot of

and then Artifactory doesn’t work L. I made the stupid mistake of deleting the index folder instead of removing it (for which I am going to be killed ;)).

Any idea what’s wrong here? (log in attachment)

Re: artifactory

Even if you deleted the index folder, it should not break things permanently, so unless there were external changes to your MySQL instance, everything should still be fine. Just make sure you do the index removal while Artifactory is *down* and then allow it to rebuild the index upon restart - it will delay the startup process until finished. So, you can do this again: stop Artifactory, move away the index directory, restart Artifactory and let it finish the startup process - it make take some time to complete the startup.
If you are still getting errors, try starting with -Dartifactory.jcr.fixConsistency=true - don't leave this on as a permanent option, as it slows down the startup process.

and then Artifactory doesn’t work L. I made the stupid mistake of deleting the index folder instead of removing it (for which I am going to be killed ;)).

Any idea what’s wrong here? (log in attachment)

The index is out of sync. Please see my answer here (first part) on how to resolve this by rebuilding the index: http://www.nabble.com/Re%3A-Moving-existing-Derby-installation-to-Postgresql-p24859759.html.

Jeroen,

Actually this looks very much related to a set of fixes we did around http://issues.jfrog.org/jira/browse/RTFACT-1960, and should be resolved in 2.0.7.
Please allow the Artifactory garbage collector to run at least twice before checking on the error again (by default it runs every hour).

Re: artifactory

Jeroen De Vries

I somehow managed to break it anyway…

[root@lsvm008 ~]# service artifactory stop

Shutting down Jetty: 14804

Session terminated, killing shell... ...killed.

[root@lsvm008 ~]# rm -Rf /usr/local/artifactory/data/index

[root@lsvm008 ~]# service artifactory start

Solved nothing. But the fixConsistency did. Thanks a lot for it! I still get a whole lot of error in the logging, like:

Subject: Re: [Artifactory-users] artifactory

I’ve got some problems with artifactory. My Hudson builds are failing because there is a transfer error with artifactory. I see the errors in artifactory even when it just starts up, and does nothing.

Re: artifactory

Jeroen De Vries
In reply to this post by Yoav Landman

After I removed that indexes, and started it with the fixConsistency, things worked again, but it still gave errors.

Today I had a little more time to look at it. Because of the persisting errors I tried removing the index again (while artifactory was down), and boot it again. This solved nothing, so I shut down artifactory again, removed the index folder, en booted with fixconsistency.

è JAVA_OPTIONS="$JAVA_OPTIONS -Djetty.home=$ARTIFACTORY_HOME -Dartifactory.home=$ARTIFACTORY_HOME -Dartifactory.jcr.fixConsistency=true" in my artifactory_home/bin/artifactory.sh

After another regular artifactory reboot (without removing any indexes) I still get a lot of error:

Any idea? I’m seriously considering to reinstall artifactory, as it just won’t work correctly in the current setup. I only fear that that won’t really help.

Subject: Re: [Artifactory-users] artifactory

Thanks! It’s indeed fixed now. I forgot that our MySQL suddenly lost his config file for some reason last weekend :s.

I only still get a lot of these: (about 50 garbage collection cycles have passed (I set it on 5 minutes for testing purposes).

Jeroen,

Actually this looks very much related to a set of fixes we did around http://issues.jfrog.org/jira/browse/RTFACT-1960, and should be resolved in 2.0.7.
Please allow the Artifactory garbage collector to run at least twice before checking on the error again (by default it runs every hour).

Subject: Re: [Artifactory-users] artifactory

Subject: Re: [Artifactory-users] artifactory

Jeroen,

Actually this looks very much related to a set of fixes we did around http://issues.jfrog.org/jira/browse/RTFACT-1960, and should be resolved in 2.0.7.
Please allow the Artifactory garbage collector to run at least twice before checking on the error again (by default it runs every hour).

Regards,

Jeroen
